With many years of waiting, and several years in the making - Byron A's debut album "Modern Shades of Love" emerges to the scene, smelling almost like a hit compilation. The wide variety of style makes it hard for even the artist himself to classify it. He simply refers to it as modern music. And rightly so. The album jump starts with a mature pop/rock groove, moves on to the dance floor for a catchy hook, slows down a bit for a moody electro- R&B number, then rocks right up to the top again with it's first single. If you follow this line of progression and throw in a rap here, a boy band ditty there, you have "Modern Shades of Love".

The album was recorded over the course of an entire year. And Byron A. worked almost entirely by himself. When asked about it, he tells from his inspiration from Lenny Kravitz "I never seriously thought something like that could fly until I dug into "Baptism" by Lenny," Byron states. (For those that are familiar with Lenny, this is no surprise). "From then on I felt as if I were being gently pushed out of my nest to spread my wings, and to approach this experience as a single painter would a painting.." " ..As far as the wide variety of style- I had this collection of songs I wanted to use, but didn't feel like conforming them so they fit in a traditional box. Who needs more boxes? We need to get out of them more. Musically speaking, I see this as an exploration of different styles and how one individual interprets/expresses them. And maybe some fusion took place along the way".

The red thread through this album is in fact the text. Byron A. sings about the lighter and heavier sides of love, both on a personal and corporate level. And some songs bear the markings of a strong Christian faith. According to the artist, that goes without saying- "God defined love, he IS love. Ain't no such thing as a Christian hater".

To add color and extra spice on a couple of the tracks, a few guests were invited: Astrid Hegdal as guest vocalist, Lene Fiskerstrand with a soprano sax solo, Joseph Kloven on trumpets, Jonas Teien & Martha Gravaas Eggehorn on backing vocals, and Eumi Chung & Martin Gray on violins.
